Mick Donovan joined the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ in 1999 with a strong background in coaching and teaching. Mick was a physical education teacher for 13 years and then made the transition to Higher Education when he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Warwick. So far at Worcester he has pioneered the Learning Through Sport programme that has received national and international recognition and was co-founder and former coach of the . He became Head of School in 2008 and has played a leading role in the development of the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Arena and has played a significant role in developing international links with many partners. Mick has delivered keynote lectures with a focus on Coach Education / Philosophy and Learning Through Sport at conferences and universities around the World.

  • Hosted senior delegation seminars: The General Administration of Sport China
  • Leading member and Co-founder of European Basketball Research and International Basketball Language Camps
  • ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Arena Campaign Committee member
  • Pioneer of the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ and Worcester Wolves Basketball Programme
  • Creation and implementation of the Learning Through Sport initiative; regional and national
  • Member of the organising committee for the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships 2015

  • Secured funding to support Worcester Wolves and UW Basketball programme from local and national businesses and sports organisations
  • Secured funding and directed Learning Through Sport Initiative to primary schools locally and regionally for the past 13 years.
  • Secured 'sportsmatch' funding for community basketball programmes
  • Co-ordinating sports grant applications and directing initiatives for local schools
  • Secured funding as the first providers for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence Basketball scheme, in conjunction with England Basketball and the Learning and Skills Council.
