Emma qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1997 and since then has predominantly worked in the NHS within the area of Neurology. Emma currently works part time leading an NHS neurology Occupational Therapy outpatient service and has also over the years combined her NHS role with other part time roles including disability assessment, working in a 24 hour care private neurological rehabilitation setting and as a principal investigator for 2 research projects. Emma has been a practice educator for many years and particularly enjoys having students on placement and supporting them to link theory and practice.

Emma started as an associate lecturer with ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ in 2014 and has supported a variety of modules over the years before becoming a permanent member of the team in 2022.

Emma was born, grew up and still lives in St Johns, Worcester and spends a lot of time watching her 2 sons and husband playing football.

Teaching Interests

Emma enjoys teaching on a variety of modules across all years of study.

Currently Emma is module lead for :

Evidence based Occupational Therapy (1st year MSc)
Foundation sciences : Psychology (1st year BSc Occupational Therapy)
Leadership for professional Practice (3rd year BSc Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy)

Emma has a special interest in teaching anything related to neurology and cognition and working clinically with those who have a neuro diagnosis finds that every day she learns something new herself.

She also has input into other modules throughout the year and supports with coaching for practice, placements and personal academic tutees.

Research Interests

Emma’s MSc research focused on a standardised cognitive assessment, The Rookwood Driving Battery and has an interest in anything related to neurology.

Emma enjoys participating in research and contributed to the Practice Guideline : Splinting for the prevention and correction in adults with neurological dysfunction (2015)
