Worcester Student Graduates for the Second Time
Friday, 13 September 2024
A Worcestershire man returned to graduate from the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ this week, 27 years after he first donned his cap and gown.
Neil Pollard first graduated from the University in 1997 with a degree in Psychology, before going on to an extensive career working in the NHS, probation and mental health services.
He returned to the University last year to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner in Specialist Adult Mental Health, graduating this week.
“It’s been wonderful to return and to graduate all over again,” he said. “Coming to the University is where it all started for me and it’s lovely to be back.”
Neil, who currently works in the Wyre Forest, was welcomed back to the University by Matthew Jellis, Head of Department in the School of Psychology, who supervised Neil’s undergraduate dissertation all those years ago.
“It’s really wonderful to see former students come back,” he said. “We are always so proud to see people take what we teach and apply it in the world, making a real difference.”
