Friday, 20 September 2024
A senior academic from the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ has taken on a new leadership role at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.
Dr Scott Andrews, Head of Worcester Business School, has been made the Chair of the Worcestershire Council, and Vice President of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber board.
The Chamber of Commerce is a network of business leaders that advocates for the interests of its members.
Members include Worcester Bosch, Hewett Recruitment, Worcestershire County Council, and many more.
The Worcestershire Council of the Chamber meets regularly to discuss matters important to members.
Updates from these meetings are then sent to the British Chamber of Commerce where they’re used to inform and guide government policy.
Dr Andrews said: “I’m delighted to have been voted into this role and for the support I’ve received from the former chair of the council.
He added: “I’ve been on the council for a while now, and it has given me the opportunity to understand more about the way businesses operate not just locally and regionally, but nationally and internationally.”
He continued: “It’s a privilege to now step up and play a bigger part in something that has such an impact on the future.”
The Chamber is a community of more than a thousand organisations from across the region, with businesses from a range of sectors including finance, housing, food, retail, insurance, science, defence and many more.
Dr Andrews said: “The close relationship the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ has with other members of the Chamber enables the University to stay ahead of changes in demand for graduates looking for recruitment into local businesses and ensures we are delivering the most up to date programmes to meet the needs of employers across our region.”
Dr Andrews’ role as the Chair of the Worcestershire Area Council and Vice President of the Chamber will last for four years, after which he’ll become President of the Chamber for two years.
