Rachel Ford
Rachel Ford graduated from the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ with a degree in Criminology in November 2021.
Rachel said she was proud to have gained top marks, despite the challenges of the last 18 months during the pandemic.
“It’s so nice to know that all my hard work paid off and not even the pandemic could stop us from doing well,” she said.
Rachel, who achieved a First, is now hoping to find a job within the criminal justice system.
“Using my criminology degree, I have a great understanding of many roles within the criminal justice system,” she said. “So, I hope to use what I have learnt to aid others and find a job that contributes to the running of the System. I hope to continue to develop as an individual and go on to make my family proud in whatever career path I go down.”
During her studies, Rachel continued her work with Girl Guiding, getting involved in leading a local group. “I continued running virtual meetings during the pandemic,” she said. “This offered both the young girls and the leaders a bit of fun and escapism during some stressful and unusual times.”
Rachel said studying during the pandemic was challenging but said there was always support on offer.
“Lecturers did all they could to ensure that we understood everything we needed to and always had support available to us,” she said. “My lecturers, personal academic tutor and course leader always kept me informed and were quick to make time for us when we needed it. My course leader was amazing when I was struggling with data analysis and she very quickly rang me via Teams and arranged help.”
